Description

In one of the most beautiful lanes of Oisterwijk, in an English park-like residential area called villa park “Hoog”, you will find this very characteristic, excellently maintained semi-detached villa “Sonnevanck”.

Situated in the green, this house is a 5-minute walk from the train station and the pleasant centre of Oisterwijk.

A villa with a rich history
In 1912, “Sonnevanck” was built by order of George Perk from Hilversum, from whom the lane takes its name. He had “Sonnevanck” built for a son and the adjacent villa “Noorder Engh” for his daughter, who both returned from the Dutch East Indies.

“Sonnevanck” is dedicated to grandson Freddy Perk, as can be seen on the facade stone next to the front door. Architect Bernard Vriens designed a Goois country house in Oisterwijk, commissioned by George Perk. The beautiful, stately villa contains several Art Nouveau features, such as the stucco ceiling ornaments and detailing in the woodwork.

Since the 1960s, “Sonnevanck” has been used as an educational institution. Since the purchase in 1994, the current residents have restored the house to its former glory with great sense of style and detail. In 2007, they received the prestigious Municipal Monument Award for this. “Sonnevanck” looks as it was intended in 1912, but after the restoration/renovation it has a contemporary living comfort, such as complete insulation, underfloor heating, double glazing and solar panels. History and contemporary living are beautifully combined here!

Layout

Ground floor
State hall
Upon entering this beautiful villa, you will be pleasantly surprised. You enter the impressive hall through the vestibule, with a high ceiling and a beautiful light incidence thanks to the beautiful intermediate facade with stained glass. The hall has a wonderfully beautiful antique tiled floor, newly laid and equipped with floor insulation and pleasant underfloor heating.

Conservatory
The conservatory at the front can be reached via the hall. A sun-drenched, wonderful space where you can work, practice your hobby or where your children can play. The conservatory has French doors that open onto the front garden.

Living room
The living room can be reached from the hall. The atmosphere exudes peace and nostalgia. Here too, beautiful, high ceilings, beautiful ornaments, high windows that provide optimum light. The living room flows into the dining room, separated by beautiful 4-part en suite doors. The beautiful mantelpiece with wood stove completes the picture of this stately dining room.

Kitchen
The kitchen is an extension of the dining room and is oriented towards the sunny back garden. With two double patio doors you can walk onto the terrace and into the garden. The living/dining kitchen is again very light and sunny thanks to the many windows all around. The kitchen is completely in style and equipped with various built-in appliances.

Utility room
Next to the kitchen is the utility room, which also has an access door to the garden. It is a nice, practical space with connections for the washing equipment and space for an extra fridge/freezer.

At the end of the hall is the toilet with washbasin; as well as access to the basement.

Via the beautiful landing stairs you reach the first and second floors. You will notice that the ceilings here are also pleasantly high and also have decorative stucco edges.
Cellar
The cellar is accessible via a fixed staircase. It is a practical space; ideal for storing your delicious wines and extra provisions.

First floor
Adjacent to the spacious landing are three spacious rooms, a toilet, the bathroom and at the end a balcony with a view of the front garden. The flat roof with the escape stairs can be reached via the balcony door in the room with the fixed cupboard wall.

Bathroom
The bathroom, built entirely in style, has a freestanding bath, a double antique marble washbasin, a walk-in shower and a fixed cupboard. There is pleasant daylight and the spacious space is well ventilated.

Second floor
What a surprise this spacious, versatile floor. Now in use as a very pleasant studio with plenty of daylight, good ceiling heights, a beautiful bay window and lots of cupboard space. There is also an extra bedroom with dormer window.

The entire second floor can of course be divided freely and is suitable for multiple purposes. For example, you could easily create a beautiful master bedroom with a second bathroom.
This space is also well secured with an escape staircase on the outside.

The garden
The attractive garden is laid out entirely in the English style of the living environment. It is a wide, deep garden with various terraces, many beautiful hedges, rose bushes and a large variety of perennials that show some of their splendor throughout the year. The aerial photo clearly shows the structure of the garden. Other photos give an impression of what the cottage-like garden looks like in spring and high summer. The canopy offers a cozy terrace where you can enjoy yourself in spring and autumn.
The storage room
At the back of the garden is the large, fully insulated storage room with a complete attic floor. This light space with windows and garden doors to the terrace can be used for numerous purposes.

Finally, a word from the residents:

“This monumental villa has stood the test of time and we have renovated and cherished it with love and respect for its characteristic appearance. It is a privilege to live in this sunny house with its many possible uses and beautiful details in the finishing. A beautiful avenue with lots of greenery completes the picture. “
