The attractive village of Breukelen (around 14,500 inhabitants) has developed very well in recent years. Many nice shops have established themselves. Branches of large supermarkets such as Albert Heijn and Jumbo as well as a Hema, Kruitvat and Etos have also managed to find the village and can be reached in 10 minutes by bike. Several nice shops such as a good bookshop, several clothing boutiques, and cosy and good catering establishments, contribute to the liveliness and pleasant atmosphere of this beautiful historical village. The terrace of buitenplaats Slangevecht was voted the most beautiful terrace of the province of Utrecht.
